You want to help your members come unto Christ and you’ve done everything you can but some of them just don’t seem to be able to change.  Something big is holding them back.

You are encouraged to seek professional help, but you don’t have options in your community, or the options you have are just not right this time.

Now there is another option!

Online Counselling with Sister Dione Davies

Most people experience positive change in just a few sessions.  But sometimes it takes longer to make lasting change – maybe up to 8 – 12 sessions.  Each person is different.

When they have found new ways to think and interact, they will be more able to turn to the Saviour, work towards emotional and temporal self-reliance and be agents of change in their own lives.

I have questions!

Is online counselling safe and effective?

The easy answer is yes!  There is extensive research to show that online provides the same benefits as meeting in person. I can send you some information about this if you’d like.

We’ll use encrypted video, and although this isn’t exactly the same as meeting in person, it’s very close, and sometimes even better.  It’s convenient for the person who will not need to travel to attend a session, and there will be no problems finding babysitters or parking, etc.

Will it work with everyone?

There are some more serious conditions that are best treated in person.  And we both need access to decent internet, but apart from these, yes, online counselling can help most people.

I meet with people online for 20 mins for free so that we can assess these concerns and see whether we both think we can work together.

Who are you?

I’ve grown up in the church in NZ, served in callings in RS, YW, Primary, Family History and Single Adults over the years and recently returned from a full time 18 month Family Services mission in Tonga.  I’ve raised 4 children after divorce and have personally dealt with anxiety, depression and childhood trauma.  Your members will find in me a person who knows and cares.

Are you qualified and experienced?

I have a degree in Counselling and a Masters in Arts Therapy.  I am a registered Arts Therapist. which means I’m a member of an appropriate professional body (ANZACATA) and have the appropriate insurance coverage.  I have been counselling for 13 years.

What is your fee?

I charge a discounted fee of $120 per 1 hour session for your members.  I can invoice you for this.  I will need your email so I can send you the invoice each month.  You can email me on dione@aftertherain.co.nz if you have any questions about payment.

How many sessions will they need?

Its hard to tell.  Between 6 and 12 is common but some people respond more quickly and other, more serious, concerns can take longer to make changes that will last.

If you want to limit the counselling to a certain number of sessions we can do that. But I need to know that at the beginning so we can pace the work to fit in the time we have.

Do you work with men or children?

I work with individuals – men and women – but not couples.  I can work with youth over 16, as long as they agree to attend.  I don’t work with children, because it’s my belief that more change can happen by helping the parent with their parenting, than working directly with the child.

What is the booking process?

Your ward member can go to my booking page and choose ‘Intro’ to book our initial free session at a time that suits them.  During this session we’ll make sure their internet is good enough, and that they are a good fit for online counselling.  If they don’t have good internet at home, perhaps you could arrange for them to have access to the meetinghouse.

If all goes well, I will provide them with a code to use each time they book another session with me.  This allows them to book without paying immediately.

Can I talk to you about counselling in general?

Yes!  I am happy to answer any questions about how I work or what you can expect to see as a person improves.  I am often travelling out of the country, so you can’t call me, but we can talk online (and the bonus of this is that you will see what your members will be experiencing) or, if you prefer, you can email me and I will call you back as soon as I can.

Will you report back to me about the counselling work?

I can’t disclose any details to you without my client’s permission, but I can let you know our overall plan and how well the person is engaging with the process.  If you would like me to do this, please mention it in your email.
